Alpharetta, Ga. – September 29, 2008 – Gary W. Dunwoody, an accomplished leader of the Shriners organization, has joined Kiz Toys’ Board of Advisors. He joins board members including baseball hall of famer Phil Niekro, NHRA Pro Stock racing legend Warren Johnson and energy consultant Ray Johnson. In his position, Dunwoody will advise the toy company on matters concerning KizHope, the charitable wing of Kiz Toys.
“Mr. Dunwoody is a great leader who has dedicated his life to helping others through the Shriners organization, as well as his other ventures,” said Kiz Toys COO and cofounder Ashley Johnson. “He has a lot of experience with charitable organizations, and his guidance will ensure that we can achieve our goals and help children across the country, and the world, through our KizHope initiative.”
Dunwoody recently held the highest rank in the global Shriners organization, serving as Imperial Potentate from 2005-06. He has been an active leader in the fraternity since becoming a member in 1976, serving as Potentate of the Scimitar Shriners in 1989 and president of the Central States Shrine Association in 1994.
Dunwoody was recently elected to serve a three-year term on the Shriners Hospitals for Children Board of Trustees. He served a previous term on the Board of Trustees from 1991-94.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system of 22 hospitals. Children up to age 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment at no charge—regardless of financial need.
Through KizHope, Kiz Toys plans to donate a portion of its proceeds to various non-profit groups that focus on children’s health, fitness and other areas that help kids in need reach their full potential.
